Built from real riding
Ever missed an entry? Left home too late for a proper warm-up? Arrived at an event and discovered a key bit of kit was still at home?
I have. Some days the hardest part of an event seems to happen before you even get on the bike. That is why we built Tom’s Gear Lab. To be honest, we made it for ourselves first: a place to keep the useful bits together, make fewer avoidable mistakes and spend more energy on the ride.
I’m Tom Sailes. I race road and track nationally, and I’m always learning what helps me prepare and improve. Tom’s Gear Lab brings those lessons into practical tools for anyone getting ready for a race, a long ride or a new challenge.
Find something worth riding
Browse events, see who is organising them and check who can enter. Save a ride to your calendar, or add one yourself if it is not listed.
Explore events →Turn a date into a plan
Your saved event can feed into Event Preparation. Bring the venue, travel time, kit and your own notes together before the week runs away with you.
Open Event Calendar →Get ready without the last-minute scramble
Build a warm-up around your start time and work backwards to see when to begin. Use the checklist to remember the things that are surprisingly easy to leave behind.
Plan a warm-up → · Check your kit →Learn from the next ride
Keep your bike setup and gearing handy. Afterwards, record your result and what you would do differently. Small lessons add up over a season.
Save a bike setup → · Try the gear calculator →For the riders figuring it out as they go
Whether you are lining up for your first event or have raced for years, I hope Tom’s Gear Lab saves you some time and helps you arrive feeling a bit more ready. The tools are here to support your riding, not to make preparation another event in itself.
If something is missing or could work better, tell us. We are building this from real use, and good suggestions are welcome.
